If beautiful beaches and a chilled atmosphere is what you’re looking for in Bali, then Nusa Ceningan is the place to be. Nusa Ceningan is a small island of the coast of Bali. This is my favourite place in Bali because of the chilled atmosphere, the laid-back lifestyle and the picturesque scenery. Nusa Ceningan may be a small island but it packs a punch with so much to see and do. These are the best things to do at Nusa Ceningan.
VISIT THE BLUE LAGOON
I bet you will never have seen a lagoon quite as picturesque as this one. The Blue Lagoon is a lookout point at the far end of Nusa Ceningan. The water is the most beautiful icy blue colour with the waves crashing ashore. When the water is calm there is a cliff jump point where you can have some fun jumping into the surf. However please jump with caution because I have seen the water when the swell is big and the conditions can be very dangerous. Bonus tip: Make sure you go to Blue Lagoon Avia Bistrot which is a restaurant/bar & infinity pool that overlooks the Blue Lagoon. The breakfast here is amazing so stop in for some brekky with a view or a couple drinks and some lunch.
CHILL AT THE BEACH BARS
One of my favourite things to do at Nusa Ceningan is to just chill out some of the many beach bars. There are bars lined all the way up the coast so you’ll certainly have your pick of bars. I tried out most of the beach bars, just doing my research right, and narrowed them down to 2 favourites – The Sand Ceningan & The Island Ceningan. Both are great for different reasons. I like The Sand more for the food and the swings & hammocks. I enjoyed The Island for the atmosphere (the owner is super friendly), the drinks and the view – especially for sunset.

DRIVE ACROSS THE YELLOW BRIDGE
The Yellow Bridge is the famous bridge that connects Nusa Ceningan & Nusa Lembongan. It’s a narrow bridge that can only be crossed on a scooter or by foot. Nusa Lembongan is a larger island that has a lot to offer. While you’re on Nusa Lembongan be sure to check out Mushroom Bay, Devil’s Tears and my favourite restaurants Ginger and Jamu & Hai Bar and Grill.
WATCH THE SUNSET
Sunset is always a beautiful experience at any location, but chilling on some beanbags or swings with a cocktail in hand while the sunsets over the water is something else. Most of the beach bars have happy hour specials on at this time making the sunset all that much sweeter. There’s a number of hotels with infinity pools that you can view the sunset from as well – like Le Pirate Ceningan. However you choose to view the sunset it will surely make for a memorable evening.
DISCOVER THE SECRET BEACH
The Secret Beach, as you may be able to guess from the name, is a little hidden beach. It’s an easy beach to miss if you don’t know about it since it’s off the main roads and there’s no direct access to it. The easiest way to find Secret Beach is by going to the very end of the road past the Blue Lagoon. You’ll find an empty parking lot. When you walk towards the coast you see a small beach with most likely few or no people on it. There’s stairs that lead down to it so it’s easy to access. Enjoy the beautiful beach and the solitude. Something to keep in mind – the best time to visit Secret Beach is sometime between high tide and low tide. At high tide the water comes all the way into the shoreline and at low tide the beach goes out quite far.
Have the best time at Nusa Ceningan! It’s one of my favourite places in Bali so give yourself enough time to relax and enjoy it. As always leave any questions in the comments below.
