BEST THINGS TO DO IN BYRON BAY

Byron Bay Ultimate Travel Guide

Located on the East coast of Australia, Byron Bay is a super chill beach town with a hippie vibe where vegan cafes and yoga on the beach is all the rage.

Byron Bay is one of my favorite towns in Australia if you’re looking for a beautiful relaxing getaway.

Here is your ultimate guide for what to do during your stay in Byron Bay.

CHECK OUT THE BEACHES

Byron Bay is scattered with 6 beautiful beaches. Main beach is the most popular where you will see many people relaxing just up the street from the main town area. Or for a more picturesque and quiet beach head up the road to Wategos Beach. A lot more quiet and sheltered here you will find some surfers and a few locals. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

TRY THE LOCAL BEER

If you’re feeling a bit thirsty, go to Stone & Wood Brewery for some tasty local beer. With a large variety on tap they’ll have something for everyone’s taste buds. I suggest trying out the tasting paddle with your choice of 5 beers. They also run tours of the brewery for only $10 with taste tests and a pint when you finish.

VIEW THE SUNRISE

The lighthouse in Byron Bay is located at the most Eastern point in Australia. Great to see during the day but even more special at the crack of dawn. Made even more special by the fact that you will be the first people in Australia to see the sunrise. This will be a sunrise you won’t soon forget.

LEARN TO SURF

One of the most popular places in Australia for surfers with all skill levels. With plenty of beaches to choose from and gentle waves this is a great place for learners to start out with. There are a number of places where you can find surf board rentals and lessons.

UNDERWATER WRECK

The Wreck is a surf spot located about 30 meters off Belongil Beach at the town end. Visible sticking out of the water during low tide, is an old ship wreck that sunk during a cyclone in 1922. It can be easily accessed by swimming out to it and snorkeling down to it.

TAKE IN A SUNSET

Byron Bay is famous for its gorgeous sunsets. Although the sun doesn’t set over the beach, the sky lights up gorgeous hues of pink & red. Head to the Main Beach to join the crowds and see the sky display showing off its beautiful colors right in front of you.
